The 1777 French Infantry Flintlock Musket represents the peak of smoothbore flintlock design.
It has steel furniture including three barrel bands to make the gun stronger for bayonetting. The efficient lock has a corrosion resistant brass pan that is installed at an angle so it is level when the gun is in the "prime" position. There is a blade sight mounted on the front barrel band, making this one of the more accurate military muskets to target shoot with. It has a cheek rest cut into the stock in order to get your eye right behind the barrel for better aiming.
The .69 caliber smoothbore barrel is 44" long. The lock and barrel have St Ettienne inspection marks.
