This is our Dutch Flintlock Blunderbuss. It is representative of a mid-18th century design. The Low Countries were producing arms for countries all over the world in this era and it wasn't unusual to see a mix of regional styles on one gun. This piece has a mix of Germanic and British style design features.
It has a three stage, .69 caliber barrel that is available with either a steel 15" barrel or a brass 18" barrel.
Brass barrelled guns are more expensive because of extra material costs. In original blunderbusses, steel barrels were much more common than brass.
Blunderbusses were NOT made to fire scrap metal, nails and junk out of regardless of what Hollywood tells you. It is meant to fire lead balls and shot like any other musket.
The flared muzzle is there to allow for faster reloads.
These have a smaller sized lock than most muskets and use a 3/4" flint.
