This is a replica of the type of pistol issued to Royal Highland Regiments. The RHR pistols were made in the style of traditional highland pistols, only Birmingham made. Getting to carry traditional Scottish styled weapons and wear kilts was a way of attracting Scots to join the British army because at the time, Scots were banned from possessing traditional Highland dress and weapons as retribution for the Jacobite uprisings.
These are less ornate than the Murdoch pistols, but historically correct, especially for a military impression.
The lock is marked Bissell and the round barrel is marked RHR for Royal Highland Regiment.
On the left side of the gun, there is a belt hook.
