This is our British Naval Cutlass.
It has a straight, unfullered 29" blade (unsharpened, but can take an edge if you take the time to sharpen them).
The grip is the 1804 pattern, made in cast iron with ribs for a better grip and a good balance for such a stout blade.
It has the classic figure-eight or double disk style sheet steel guard. The guard is left bright, ready for you to blue, brown or paint as you choose.
The hilt secures with a tang screw so you can easily backdate the weapon to an earlier style by replacing the grip with a round wooden cylinder or a section of staghorn. See Gilkerson's book Boarders Away Vol I for ideas.
The scabbard is black leather with a brass latchet to secure it to your baldric.
