This is our Cookson New England Fowler. It is a doglock fowling piece that is styled after an original gun that was made in Boston around 1750 using parts from an older, circa 1690's gun, but stocked in the current style.

This is the longest production musket that has ever been reproducted. The smoothbore barrel is 51" long in .69 caliber. It is a 3-stage barrel with a "wedding ring". The overall length of the gun is 68" but it weighs a little less than a Brown Bess at around 9 pounds.

It is a true doglock in that there is no half cock notch, the dog catch functions as a half cock postion.

It has early style brass furniture and a wooden rammer. The lock is marked Cookson.
