The 1740 Potzdam Flintlock Musket is what the German mercenaries known as Hessians or Brunswickers would have carried with them to the American colonies.
It is very close in styling to the British "Brown Bess" type muskets, only more ornate with it's distinctive German style. Because of the shape of the comb, this was also known as a "cow's foot" musket.
It has brass furniture and a steel rammer. This piece was copied from an original and our reproduction comes complete with copies off all of the original inspection marks.
The .75 caliber smoothbore barrel is 41" long.
